CARE Humanitarian Shelter Training
As one of the first grantees of the IHG Foundation we provided a grant to CARE International UK to develop content and facilitate training on emergency shelter. With great success, CARE facilitated the first Humanitarian Shelter Workshop in Bangkok, in March, to a total of 17 Emergency & Shelter Project Heads from across the globe, detailing emergency response, approach and challenges.
“This is a truly productive training opportunity. The discussion on planning, development of strategy, disaster response and recovery, and the case studies have been very informative and are relevant for our Risk team’s consideration. The focus on gender sensitivity during emergency response and the different approach taken by locations are both impressive and interesting.” Reza Kazuri, Manager, AMEA Risk Management team at IHG.
The IHG Foundation continues to collaborate with CARE’s emergency shelter team to enhance its ability to prepare and respond to disasters around the world. This will enable CARE to help vulnerable people in communities around the world increase their resilience to shocks, manage risks, address causes of vulnerability and ultimately improve their lives.
Through the work of the IHG Foundation, we are extending True Hospitality for everyone, making local communities better places to be for all.
